Registered Nurse (7am-3pm)
About The Position
Walker Therapeutic & Educational Programs is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide routine and emergency medical services across its residential, CBAT, group home, and school programs. This role, under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, is crucial for nurturing hope, building strengths, and developing lifelong skills in partnership with children, youth, families, and communities. The organization offers comprehensive, trauma-informed services to children and youth with complex needs, supporting their families throughout the process. The RN will play a key role in ensuring the health and well-being of the individuals served.
Requirements
- Current unencumbered MA nursing license
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent
- Must be able to successfully pass and apply Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training
- Must be able to successfully complete First Aid/CPR training
- Must be able to successfully complete MAP certification
- Must be familiar and proficient in Electronic Health Record Systems
- Ability to appropriately manage confidential information
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and make safe decisions in high-pressure situations
- Capacity to work effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment
- Ability to learn, retain, and apply principles taught in training and supervision
- Ability to stand, walk, and run for extended periods, perform frequent bending, stooping, stretching, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), sitting, stairs, typing, and looking at a computer screen
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and computer experience is required
- Ability to meet deadlines and follow through with multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team, including during times of high stress
- Ability to transport clients in company vehicles to appointments
- Must be able to follow Walker’s policies and procedures, be an ambassador of Walker, and Walker’s work culture
- Successfully complete all background check suitability requirements
- Valid MA driver’s license preferred
Nice To Haves
- 1-2 years of experience working with children with emotionally challenged and/or developmentally delayed children preferred
- Bilingual capabilities are preferred, but not required
Responsibilities
- Provide routine medical care to students
- Provide emergency care to students if necessary
- Administer medications to students at various times throughout the shift
- Maintain medical records
- Provide on-going consultation to staff and attend required meetings
- Ensure that first aid supplies are available in all necessary locations
- Track and schedule medical, dental and lab appointments
- Provide in-service training to staff
- Communicate with parents/guardians/collaterals as needed
- Support Nursing internships
- Attend multidisciplinary team meetings as needed
- Serve as on-call nurse for after-hours phone triage, as needed
- Additional duties as assigned
