Registered Nurse (RN) / Per Diem Days
About The Position
Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU care to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Registered Nurses provide compassionate, excellent care to patients throughout this process. The role is located at Select Specialty Hospital - Wheeling, inside Wheeling Hospital on the second floor, and is per diem/PRN on the day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Per diem nurses must work at least four shifts in a six-week period. The hospital offers an extensive RN orientation program and the possibility of advancement to a full-time position. Compensation is $46 per hour, with competitive shift differentials for nights and weekends, and a $5,000 sign-on bonus.
Requirements
- Valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required at hire.

Responsibilities
- Receive admissions and/or transfers to the unit.
- Perform initial and ongoing systematic patient assessments.
- Complete timely and accurate documentation using appropriate systems.
- Interpret assessment and diagnostic data, including laboratory results and telemetry.
- Ensure medical orders are transcribed and processed accurately.
- Demonstrate competence in rapid response and code events.
- Instruct and counsel patients and families.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
