About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for its 36-bed Medical Surgical Telemetry Unit (STC-5) at Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. The role is scheduled for day shifts, 36 hours per week. The unit cares for adult and geriatric patients with a wide variety of medical conditions, including patients transferring from intensive care, particularly the MICU. The unit provides care for patients requiring medication regimens, respiratory support, airborne/contact/droplet precautions, nutritional support, wound and skin care, diagnostic procedures, nasogastric suction, and cardiac monitoring. Patient conditions and services include gastrointestinal abnormalities, severe sepsis, CHF, multi-organ failure, and BiPAP use. The position offers access to professional development and continuing education, shared governance, and a collaborative nursing environment focused on evidence-based practice, safety, and quality outcomes.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited program.
Nursing must be the specialized field of study.
Registered Nurse (RN) license.
BLS certification, or obtain it within 30 days of starting in the role.

Responsibilities

Provide nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with a wide range of medical diagnoses.
Care for patients requiring medication regimens, respiratory support, nutritional support, wound and skin care, and isolation precautions.
Monitor patients requiring cardiac monitoring and care for patients with gastrointestinal abnormalities, severe sepsis, CHF, and multi-organ failure.
Support diagnostic procedures and care needs including thoracentesis, lumbar punctures, central line placement, paracentesis, angio-cath insertion, pacemaker procedures, specimen collection, and nasogastric suction.
