Key aspects of the role include involving patients and their families in developing individualized care plans, educating patients and families about their conditions and care plans, and serving as a patient advocate. The nurse is responsible for providing care to patients with various medical, surgical, or other conditions, including chronic illnesses and minor injuries. Requirements

  • Certification- ACLS required within 6 months for the Adult EDs and Free Standing EDs
  • PALS required within 1 year of hire for the Free Standing EDs and required within 6 months for WCH ED

Responsibilities

  • Provides for patient needs as recognized through use of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) and the mission statement
  • Organization and supervision of care provided by supportive personnel
  • Coordination of care provided by ancillary services
  • Including patients and significant others (SO)/families in developing an individualized plan of care
  • Education of patients/SO/families to their disease process and plan of care
  • Serves as patient advocate and responsible for providing care to patients requiring treatment of any medical, surgical, or other condition, including chronic medical and minor injuries or illnesses
