Registered Nurse (RN)
About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) works in Baptist Health Corbin’s 28-bed Emergency Department, a Level IV Trauma Designated unit providing around-the-clock care to patients of all ages. The department treats conditions ranging from non-emergent complaints to life-threatening illnesses and injuries. It includes a split-flow area for lower-acuity patients and a behavioral health intake area for assessing and managing mental and behavioral health concerns. The RN provides compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care and supports a caring environment focused on healing and wellness. The role spends more than 50% of its time coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care. Care includes assessment, treatment, care coordination, patient and family education, individualized care planning, and support for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Requirements
- Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
- A bachelor's or associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Basic life support certification; applicants without it have 30 days from their hire date to complete it.
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, and successful completion of a dysrhythmia class as required by the department of assignment.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments.
- Facilitate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Provide patient- and family-centered education.
- Coordinate care and develop individualized treatment plans as applicable.
