This position may provide direct nursing care to residents and supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by licensed practical/vocational nurses and certified nursing assistants. The role ensures adherence to current federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and established facility policies and procedures. The Registered Nurse follows the nursing model to promote holistic care for residents and ensures compliance with policies and procedures by assigned nursing personnel. Responsibilities include participating in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers, assessing changes in resident status, notifying physicians and families, and documenting accordingly. The role involves transcribing physician orders, administering medications, performing wound treatments, and scheduling follow-up appointments and transportation needs. The Registered Nurse provides direct care skills such as colostomy changes, tube feedings, wound care, suctioning, and IV administration. The position requires performing rounds to ensure resident needs are met and personnel are performing duties, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, and participating in management team meetings. The role may assist in evaluating work performance of nursing personnel, implementing discipline, and informing appropriate departments of concerns or complaints. Reporting incidents or unusual occurrences and participating in investigations are also key functions. The Registered Nurse participates in end-of-life care, ensures adequate stock of medications and supplies, and initiates/reviews/updates care plans. Promoting teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication is essential, as is participation in survey processes and QAPI activities. Ensuring infection control principles are followed and correcting deficiencies is also a responsibility. Additional tasks include treating residents with dignity and respect, promoting residents' rights, establishing a culture of compliance, adhering to safety and hygiene measures, maintaining confidentiality of protected health information, and reporting noncompliance or breaches. The role requires reporting occupational exposures, participating in emergency drills and trainings, fulfilling responsibilities during emergency plan activation, and reporting work-related injuries. Compliance with all facility standards, policies, and procedures, including the compliance and ethics program, is a condition of employment and will be a factor in performance evaluations. Violations may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
