This position may provide direct nursing care to residents and supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by licensed practical/vocational nurses and certified nursing assistants in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines and established facility policies and procedures. The Registered Nurse follows the nursing model to promote holistic care for residents and ensures that policies and procedures are complied with by nursing personnel assigned. Responsibilities include participating in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers, assessing changes in residents’ status, notifying physicians and families, transcribing physician orders, preparing and administering medications, performing wound treatments, scheduling follow-up appointments, and providing direct care skills such as colostomy changes, tube feedings, wound care, suctioning, and IV administration. The role also involves performing rounds, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, participating in management team meetings, potentially assisting in evaluating work performance, informing departments of concerns, reporting incidents, participating in end-of-life care, ensuring adequate stock of supplies, initiating and updating care plans, promoting teamwork, and participating in survey processes and QAPI activities. The Registered Nurse also ensures infection control principles are followed and helps correct deficiencies.
