Atrium Health Union is a 182-bed hospital in Monroe, NC, providing comprehensive emergency services (34 bed ED) and specialty medical care. The campus offers a variety of medical services, including a day surgery center, cancer treatment center, long-term care facility, behavioral health center, specialty care clinics, a community wellness and outreach program, a women and children’s center, interventional heart program and physician practices. Over the past 15-plus years our hospital has been serving the Monroe area, and we have worked to add new services and more specialized physicians and programs to meet the growing healthcare needs of our community. The Registered Nurse will engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. This role utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families through the continuum of care. The nurse monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, mobilizes resources, and collaborates with the care team to influence care outcomes, while upholding and promoting a culture of safety. Responsibilities include continuously evaluating patient, team, and unit outcomes, administering medications, treatments, and therapies safely, and demonstrating effective communication and conflict resolution. The position requires pursuing professional development, completing required education, maintaining certifications, adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics, and practicing ethical decision-making. Appropriate delegation to other nursing personnel and maintaining accurate, timely EHR documentation are also key. The role may require floating to other units or facilities and demands knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care, including understanding principles of growth and development over the life span.
