RN - Inpatient Pediatric OR
About The Position
UW Health is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Registered Nurse to join the Inpatient Pediatric Operating Room team at American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. The role provides high-quality perioperative nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents undergoing surgical procedures. The nurse collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, technicians, and Child Life specialists to support safe, patient-centered care throughout the surgical experience. The position is 100% FTE, Monday through Friday, with 8-hour shifts scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Holiday on-call and in-house responsibilities are required. Hours may vary according to department operational needs. The nurse serves as a pediatric circulating nurse across six OR suites, two procedural suites, and one hybrid OR.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of relevant clinical experience.
- Registration as a professional nurse in the state of Wisconsin upon hire.
- CPR certification upon hire.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Clinical operating room experience.
- ACLS certification.
- PALS certification.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a pediatric circulating nurse in six OR suites, two procedural suites, and one hybrid OR.
- Maintain a sterile and safe operating room environment and comply with safety and infection-control standards.
- Advocate for pediatric patients and their families by providing emotional support, education, and clear communication.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, technicians, and Child Life specialists to provide safe, patient-centered perioperative care.
