About The Position

The Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care activities during the patient's hospital stay and coordinates planning with other disciplines utilizing a patient/customer driven approach.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration Or Registered Nurse (RN) Issued by Compact State

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) Or Registered Nurse (RN) Issued by Compact State

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive nursing assessment/reassessment, including age-appropriate admission/transfer assessments, documentation of findings, assessment of post-op/post-invasive procedure patients, and assessment/documentation of education and discharge needs.
  • Establishes, coordinates, and evaluates a plan of care based on assessment data, patient diagnosis, lab data, tests, procedures, physician orders, protocols, and standards of care.
  • Provides and documents nursing interventions based on assessed patient needs, plan of care, and changes in patient status, including collaboration with health team members, administering medications, monitoring IV fluids, completing referrals, and providing patient/family education.
  • Documents and/or communicates nursing care and/or changes in patient condition, including ongoing evaluation of care effectiveness, patient/family education effectiveness, and immediate reporting of significant changes in patient's clinical parameters.
  • Provides specialized care to patients at high risk for injury, including restraint care, pain management, and abuse assessment.
  • Demonstrates accountability for own professional practice by adhering to quality standards, participating in learning experiences, maintaining currency in hospital/unit information, and adapting to changing work demands.
  • Ability to relate to coworkers in a professional and appropriate manner, including orienting/precepting new employees, participating in a collaborative team approach, functioning as a resource person, and supervising/teaching students/new staff nurses.
  • Performs job in accordance with safety and infection control policies, including practicing standard precautions, maintaining a safe environment, reporting risk management concerns, and completing all annual mandatory requirements.
  • Provides service excellence to customers by delivering timely, high quality care in a courteous and respectful manner, demonstrating empathy, communicating effectively, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Incorporates Performance Improvement and Evidenced Based Practice into individual professional practice, including assisting in developing and implementing nursing unit goals and participating in performance/process improvement activities.
  • Provides age-appropriate care to Adult and Geriatric patients, demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary for the age of the patient served.
  • Utilizes resources efficiently, recommends changes in practice that increase efficiency and minimize waste, and documents chargeable supplies and equipment.
