About The Position

The PACU Registered Nurse is accountable directly to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor. The nurse delivers patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients within the PACU scope of services. The role coordinates post-operative care with surgeons and anesthesiologists, directs and guides other personnel, and maintains PACU standards of care.

The nurse communicates changes in a patient's clinical condition to physicians, including hemodynamic monitoring, diagnostic study results, abnormal results, and symptoms. The role also collaborates with other departments and coworkers to provide quality care across the continuum, support efficient patient flow, and maintain unit organization. Responsibilities include adhering to regulations, standards, and hospital or unit policies and procedures; participating in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings, and in-services; and serving as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.
• ACLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
• Previous Critical Care or PACU experience, or a minimum of one year of on-the-job training.

Nice To Haves

• Critical Care RN (CCRN) certification preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
