About The Position

Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Dallas is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intake Department. Our hospital provides inpatient psychiatric care for adolescents, adults, and senior adults in a peaceful 22-acre campus in Garland, Texas. As an Intake Registered Nurse (RN), you will play a critical role in coordinating patient admissions, conducting behavioral health assessments, and ensuring a smooth intake process for patients and referral sources. This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role includes both admission coordination and direct clinical patient care, with approximately 85% of your time dedicated to patient assessments and treatment activities.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas (required)
  • Experience in behavioral health nursing, psychiatric assessment, or inpatient behavioral health
  • Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of experience in an acute behavioral health setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Receive and respond to referral and inquiry calls.
  • Gather patient demographic and clinical information.
  • Coordinate behavioral health assessments and admissions.
  • Communicate with physicians, referral sources, and internal departments.
  • Initiate insurance verification and assist with pre-certification processes.
  • Obtain necessary Releases of Information (ROI) and medical records.
  • Coordinate patient placement and discharge planning with community resources.
  • Maintain accurate admission documentation, call logs, and reporting data.
  • Collaborate with Utilization Review, Business Office, and interdisciplinary treatment teams.
  • Conduct behavioral health assessments and nursing evaluations.
  • Provide direct patient care and nursing interventions.
  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and supervision.
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to adult and geriatric populations.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to behavioral health crises.
