About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides safe patient care in the Telemetry Unit at Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. This full-time position works night shifts on a 12-hour schedule from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The nurse uses the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to care for patients, monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs, administer prescribed treatments, communicate changes in clinical condition to physicians, and educate patients and families.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintenance of certification.
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintenance of certification.

Nice To Haves

• Previous acute care hospital experience.
• Ventilator management experience.
• Medical-Surgical Nurse-Board Certified (RN-BC) certification or similar certification.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and overall health status, and create individualized care plans.
• Monitor patients’ cardiac rhythms and vital signs using telemetry equipment for remote monitoring of heart rates and rhythms.
• Communicate with physicians about changes in patients’ clinical conditions, including cardiac monitoring, diagnostic study results, and symptoms.
• Administer medications as prescribed, including intravenous medications, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
• Provide hands-on patient care, including wound care, treatments, assistance with activities of daily living, and emotional support.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, medications, treatments, self-care practices, and lifestyle modifications.
• Respond promptly to changes in patient conditions and raise concerns with physicians as soon as possible.
• Deliver safe patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
