About The Position

As a member of the healthcare team, the Registered Nurse is responsible for the coordination and evaluation of patient care within the Operating Room and PACU. The Registered Nurse works in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team to provide nursing care to patients within the perioperative environment.

Requirements

• Current Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
• Current BCLS
• Perioperative certification required and/or perioperative experience
• Demonstrated recent clinical expertise/experience in Operating Room and PACU within the last two years required
• Certified in I.V. starts
• Endoscopy suite experience
• Peri-anaesthesia Nursing Course and/or HHS CPO program completion
• Recent experience in PACU nursing within the last two years
• Evidence of ongoing professional development and continuing education management of adults, including airway management, invasive cardiac monitoring, pain management, and invasive pressure line monitoring
• Demonstrated knowledge of anaesthetic techniques and of post-anaesthesia assessment and management of sedated patients
• Demonstrated ability to interact with patients, families and other members of the health care team in an effective, professional, caring manner
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast paced adult care environment
• Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

• ACLS certification a definite asset
• RNAO, ORNAC, or NAPAN membership preferred
• Recent experience in the assessment and management of patients with acute pain preferred within the last the last two years
