About The Position

North Central Surgical Center is seeking a PRN Post Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join their Post-Surgical Unit team. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to post-surgical and telemetry patients under the direction of the Post-Surgical Unit/ED/Float Pool Clinical Supervisor. The RN will ensure patient care aligns with the hospital's mission, vision, and goals, utilizing the nursing process for high-quality, safe, and patient-focused care. Responsibilities include interacting with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, upholding professional standards, and complying with regulatory guidelines. The position requires utilizing email and computer systems, including the Electronic Health Record (EHR), for communication, care coordination, documentation, and patient workflow management. Participation in quality improvement initiatives is also expected.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Familiarity with email and computer systems for professional communication and workflow management
  • Understanding of nursing scope of practice and hospital policies/procedures
  • Ability to administer medications safely and document interventions
  • Skills in patient assessment, intervention, and outcome documentation
  • Ability to educate patients and families
  • Knowledge of safety, infection control, and National Patient Safety Goals
  • Professional demeanor and positive attitude

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care within the RN scope of practice, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Implement physician orders, administer and document medications safely, and provide nursing interventions as necessary, in accordance with standards of practice.
  • Perform accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record to reflect the patient’s condition and treatment and correct patient admit/discharge/transfer status.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Provide education to patients and their families about care and expectations.
  • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures related to safety, infection control, and National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude in all interactions with staff, patients, and families.
  • Utilizes email and computer systems (including EHR) to manage staff communication, coordinate patient care, document performance, and ensure patient workflow.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
