The Charge Nurse provides supervision and leadership to assigned nursing care unit for the shift worked. They are accountable for all nursing activities in the assigned area, which includes the effective delivery of safe, competent, compassionate, and efficient care. This position requires ensuring that care is provided in a multidisciplinary approach. The Charge Nurse completes staffing and nursing assignments for current and oncoming shifts and participates in hourly rounding, ensuring compliance. The Charge Nurse is the on-the-ground leader responsible for assessing day-to-day situations and initiating actions to address issues. This role has direct responsibilities that are both clinical and operational. The Charge Nurse must ensure services are provided within the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Halifax Health. Additional responsibilities include delegating to and overseeing the activities of Unlicensed Assistive Personnel and Licensed Practical Nurses. The Charge Nurse will ensure the provision of nursing care is in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice Nursing and as defined by the Florida Board of Nursing. This individual will be a key participant in the respective service line and understands his/her responsibility toward its growth.
