This position supports all of radiology, including MRI, CT, ultrasound, Fluro, and ultrasound. It's technically an inpatient department that cares for both inpatients and outpatients undergoing radiology procedures or infusions. The nurses staff the radiology procedural department that cares for patients both pre-procedure and post-procedure. Those procedures include lumbar punctures, myelograms, cerebral angiograms, tunneled dialysis catheter changes, pigtail placements, thoracentesis, etc. They also administer various infusions such as antibiotics, IVIG, blood products, enzyme replacements, etc. and do central/peripheral line dressing changes. They will also do a rotation in MRI where they will screen patients, administer sedation, monitor pacemakers, and anything else needed. Some core skills needed are IV insertion, port accessing, and sedation administration. Anywhere a nurse is needed within the radiology departments, we help!
