The Cardiac Assessment and Evaluation Care Unit offers elbow-to-elbow support and comes fully equipped to help you do what YOU do best, provide for our patients! The 20-bed unit is designed to provide pre-procedural care and post-procedural moderate sedation/anesthesia observation for diagnostic and interventional Cardiac Catheterization, Electrophysiological and Neuro outpatients. Inpatients also arrive and depart from the Care Unit for their pre- and post-procedural care. One of the 20 rooms is utilized for TEE procedures. The Nurse/patient ratio is 4:1, and staffing coverage reflects the standards and practice recommendations of the American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses (ASPAN). This is a busy, energetic unit which requires staff to work as a team to manage the fast-paced workflow. A supportive, individualized and thorough orientation is provided with a knowledgeable, experienced staff member.

Requirements

  • Successfully passed Board of Registration in Nursing Examination and is licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year RN experience required.
  • Diploma in Nursing (Required)
  • Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
  • Registered Nurse - State of Massachusetts

Nice To Haves

  • Critical care skills preferred.
  • Excellent IV insertion skills preferred.
  • BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-procedural care for diagnostic and interventional Cardiac Catheterization, Electrophysiological and Neuro outpatients.
  • Provide post-procedural moderate sedation/anesthesia observation for diagnostic and interventional Cardiac Catheterization, Electrophysiological and Neuro outpatients.
  • Provide pre- and post-procedural care for inpatients.
  • Utilize one of the 20 rooms for TEE procedures.
  • Work as a team to manage the fast-paced workflow.
