Westborough Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (WBHH) is a 117-bed psychiatric hospital providing comprehensive psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults. The Registered Nurse will deliver quality general/psychiatric nursing care to patients hospitalized for treatment of psychiatric or emotional disorders. This role involves applying current nursing theory, principles of care, and nursing procedures, maintaining a safe and clean care environment, participating in quality improvement initiatives, assisting in the supervision of the Behavioral Health Technician, and contributing to department operations and communications in a manner consistent with the hospital's mission and objectives.

Requirements

ASN required
Valid Massachusetts RN license in good standing
At least one year of psychiatric/behavioral health experience preferred

Responsibilities

Deliver quality general/psychiatric nursing care to patients who are hospitalized for treatment of psychiatric or emotional disorders.
Maintain a safe and clean care environment.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Assist in the supervision of the Behavioral Health Technician.
Actively and consistently contribute to department operations and communications.
Behave in a manner consistent with the mission and objectives of Westborough Behavioral Healthcare Hospital.
Take responsibility for the quality of nursing care provided to patients, including maintaining optimal patient health, counseling, collaborative planning, and restoration of optimal function.
Act as a patient advocate and assist patients in developing skills to advocate for themselves.
Document all appropriate patient information in a timely manner.
Perform comprehensive nursing assessments of all patients.
Assess vital signs and administer medications as ordered.
Evaluate and document patient response to medication regimen and identify the need to administer PRN medication.
Participate in meetings and group therapy sessions as assigned.
Assess the unit milieu to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, family members, and staff.
