About The Position

Stonington Institute, a division of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is hiring a part-time Registered Nurse for its Detox Unit. The RN is an active member of the treatment team and provides continuous care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling for clients. Stonington Institute provides substance abuse treatment for adults in Southeastern Connecticut and surrounding areas, including medical detox, residential addiction treatment, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient treatment.

This is a 24-hour-per-week position. Weekend and holiday rotation is required. Mandatory holdover and overtime may be required.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current State of Connecticut Registered Nurse license.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
• May be required to work overtime and holdover shifts.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience in the mental health or substance abuse field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess clients thoroughly upon admission and as needed.
• Accurately transcribe and implement physicians’ orders.
• Assess clients withdrawing from substances using facility-approved assessment scales.
• Develop appropriate treatment plans for problems identified in nursing assessments.
• Set behavioral, observable, and measurable goals and develop interventions to help clients achieve them.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
• Provide continuous care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to Detox Unit clients as part of the treatment team.
