About The Position

CoreCivic is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care in an institutional setting. The role involves applying nursing skills to the care and treatment of inmates/residents, assessing and responding to health concerns, and supporting other medical staff. The successful candidate must perform the listed functions at a pace and level consistent with the job’s performance requirements.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited college, university, or nursing program with a degree or diploma in nursing.
• Hold current nursing licensure in the state of employment.
• Hold a valid driver's license.
• Be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• One year of professional nursing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply appropriate nursing skills in the care and treatment of inmates/residents.
• Attend sick call with the physician; prepare a list of inmates/residents to be examined and prepare the examining room and equipment.
• Examine and assess inmates/residents with illnesses or injuries, including new arrivals and those who become ill or injured.
• Refer inmates/residents to an emergency room or other appropriate healthcare facility as required by their condition.
• Perform emergency procedures as needed and notify a Licensed Independent Provider for treatment orders.
• Provide guidance, supervise, and monitor nursing care provided by licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
