Weekender Registered Nurse Neurosurgical ICU
About The Position
The Neurosurgical ICU (NSU) specializes in the care of critically ill patients with neurological injuries and/or disorders. We are a comprehensive stroke center, as well as Level 1 Trauma. We continually strive for zero harm with our patients, and adjust our practices to achieve best outcomes by reducing infection rates. Individuals hired for a Weekender position are required to work two (2) 12-hour shifts between 7:00 PM Friday and 7:00 AM Monday. In return for this commitment, Weekenders will be compensated at 1.5 times their regular hourly rate for these shifts. Individuals in Weekender roles qualify for full-time medical and dental benefits, whereas eligibility for all other benefits is at part-time levels. Requirements
- 1 year of RN experience required
- Registered nurse with current license to practice in the state of Ohio.
- Current BLS Provider Certification, issued by the American Heart Association, must be obtained during Nursing Orientation

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
Responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- Refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation for specific duties and responsibilities.
- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
- Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
- Thorough knowledge of nursing process and practice.
- Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies (ie. Stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices.
- Demonstrates a professional demeanor when responding to patients.
