About The Position

Geisinger is hiring an Inpatient Registered Nurse for the Perioperative Unit at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. The role assesses, plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates nursing activities to meet patient needs. The nurse promotes adaptive responses from patients and families, supports safe and satisfying care, provides compassionate interactions, coordinates care and staff, and ensures patients receive care appropriate to their assigned unit. The position offers a hiring incentive of up to $26,000 for eligible candidates, a minimum hiring rate of $41.41 with increased rates for experienced individuals, and shift differentials of up to $7 for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The schedule includes day hours, generally 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with every-other-weekend and holiday requirements and on-call requirements. Requirements

Graduate from a nursing specialty training program.
Current Basic Life Support certification.
Licensed Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
Clinical skills, communication and interpersonal communication, organizing, preceptor skills, and teamwork.
Meet the qualifications to provide care for patients in the assigned nursing unit.

Responsibilities

Complete assessments in accordance with scope of practice and unit standards.
Address the physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
Formulate, coordinate, and provide plans of care according to unit standards, including patient and family education, family needs, and discharge planning in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Provide direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies, according to policy and procedure.
Evaluate nursing interventions and revise plans of care based on patient responses.
Collaborate with physicians, ancillary personnel, and interdisciplinary team members to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs.
Troubleshoot and take corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment.
Participate in unit-based decision-making regarding the use of evidence-based practice.
Work as an accountable team member toward unit and organizational goals and metrics.
Participate in patient quality and safety education and other activities intended to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.
Coordinate patient care and staff interactions while optimizing the patient and family experience.
