About The Position

Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our team! This position provides supervisory coverage for all departments at Idaho Falls Community Hospital. The role requires a general knowledge of hospital and nursing procedures and policies, functioning as a clinical liaison between departments. The Registered Nurse communicates directly with department nursing managers in their absence, as well as with the administrator on call. This role works with physicians and nursing staff on admission assignments, solving nursing issues, and addressing patient or family concerns. The position comprehends utilization rules and regulations and understands and promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program.
  • Current unencumbered RN licensure in the state of Idaho.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS courses.
  • Minimum of 5 years in acute care experience preferably in an ICU or ED.
  • Working knowledge of admission criteria.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess requirements for patient care on each department and evaluates needs during visits to all areas of the hospital.
  • Communicate with unit leadership during rounding to assess the acuity of care required for patients.
  • Implement safe staffing plans for shifts based on patient acuity, patient census, and available staff.
  • Assist physicians, access center nurse, and staff in admission criteria for assigning admission status to patients.
  • Verify Emergency Medical and Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) compliance with referrals and transfers.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Serve as a resource to staff in solving clinical problems and helps staff to efficiently utilize staffing resources to meet patient care requirements.
  • Provide support, guidance, and feedback to staff.
  • Respond as a member of the Code Blue and Rapid Response Team (RRT) and aids in other emergency situations.
  • Act as a resource in identifying and solving administrative and operational problems.
  • Contact department manager, directors, administrative personnel, or administrator-on-call for assistance in problem-solving in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Report significant incidents or problems to the proper leadership, such as major utility damage and/or outages, physician concerns, unusual patient or family concerns/problems, security problems, fire, disaster, bomb threats or other matters of legal importance, safety issues, and written descriptions about staff performance or concerns.
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Assist staff to provide a safe work environment for patient care.
  • Follow established safety and infection control procedures and help in safe practices.
  • Adhere to dress code with appearance that is neat and clean.
  • Wear hospital identification while on duty.
