About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides individualized nursing care to residents using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes and planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN collaborates with residents and their families, providers, and other interdisciplinary colleagues to plan, implement, and evaluate care. The role is in long-term care at Good Samaritan - Luverne Mary Jane Brown, part of Sanford Health. The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week, working 12-hour straight-weekend day shifts.

Requirements

Hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where practice occurs, or have multistate licensure if practicing in a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
Active Iowa RN license required at time of hire.

Nice To Haves

Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program is preferred, including programs accredited by CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise and knowledge, using age- and population-specific standards for the assigned clinical setting.
Provide resident care through preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment.
Coordinate care, assess residents, provide resident education, and perform other nursing interventions.
May serve as charge nurse and delegate appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel based on job descriptions, skills, resident care needs, and delegate competence.
Provide delegates with assistance and support to promote safe, reliable resident care and resolve care and service concerns.
Practice according to the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure, and in accordance with professional nursing standards and ethics.
