About The Position

Provides direct patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to: Director or Manager of Emergency Department. Essential Functions: Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments and other medical care activities. Documents patient care provided. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient and family. Performs other duties as assigned. A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role: Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs. Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions. Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient. Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record. Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient. Performs timely and accurate QI assessments.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina (or compact license)
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required)
  • PALS and ACLS (required)
