About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides clinical direction for all aspects of patient care in an outpatient setting. The RN demonstrates clinical competency using evidence-based practices throughout the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes. The role incorporates safety, cost containment, and quality improvement, and identifies patient, unit, and organizational priorities. The RN follows organizational compliance requirements and policies, maintains required licensure and training, protects patient confidentiality, follows infection-control and medication-administration requirements, and demonstrates knowledge of regulatory agency requirements. Care is provided within the scope of the South Carolina Nursing Practice Act. The outpatient setting usually does not require a significant amount of scheduled shift, weekend, holiday, or on-call work. The RN assesses patients, identifies and documents care priorities, and develops individualized plans of care with patients or families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team. The RN provides and coordinates direct care, delegates tasks appropriately, monitors quality and safety, evaluates patient outcomes, and adjusts care plans as needed. The role also includes patient and family education, communication across the healthcare continuum, participation in quality-improvement monitoring, and maintaining professional competency through education and other professional activities. This is a non-management position in the Ambulatory Surgery department at Baptist Parkridge Hospital. The listed work shift is variable.
