Registered Nurse-Oncology Full Time Weekend Nights
About The Position
The Staff Nurse Inpatient reflects Northwestern Medicine’s mission, vision, and values, adheres to its Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with applicable policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards. This clinically competent registered professional nurse prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients through assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse works with patients, significant others, and other members of the healthcare team while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice. The position is full-time at 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week) on the night shift.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
- Basic Life Support.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate with others.
- Strong analytic abilities.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in a specific clinical area.
- For the Emergency Room and Pediatric Emergency Room: Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS), Emergency Communications Registered Nurse, Certified Pediatric Nurse, or Certified Emergency Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze patient data, identify expected outcomes, develop and implement individualized plans of care, coordinate care delivery, and evaluate progress toward outcomes.
- Direct care and determine the appropriate utilization of assistants involved in providing direct patient care.
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff; create a documented, outcome-focused plan addressing care decisions and communications.
- Participate in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
- Evaluate and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record and individualize the plan of care based on evaluation findings.
- Use the best available evidence, including research findings, to guide practice decisions.
- Interact effectively with patients, significant others, and other health team members while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice.
