RN - Cardiology - Days
About The Position
The Registered Nurse works on the Cardiology Unit at Freeman Hospital West, a fast-paced, high-energy, procedurally driven 45-bed unit caring for patients with cardiac or vascular ailments. The unit’s bedside care is delivered by Registered Nurses, New Graduate Nurses, Unit Techs, and Unit Secretaries. In conjunction with the medical plan of care, the RN independently conducts systematic and continuous assessments of assigned patients’ and families’ physical, emotional, clinical, and psychosocial needs. The RN plans and implements appropriate interventions, evaluates their effectiveness, and adjusts the plan in a timely manner to provide safe and effective care. This is a full-time position scheduled for 36 hours per week on days.
Requirements
- Current Missouri Registered Nurse license or current Registered Nurse license from a compact state; if holding a compact license, it must be in the nurse’s state of residence.
- AHA ACLS within 120 days.
- AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers within 30 days.
- Complete 8 Cardiovascular Disease CEU hours annually by the transcript due date.
- If the nurse has no hospital RN or LPN experience, or has not worked in a hospital setting for more than 5 years, successfully pass Patient Care Orientation (PCO) within 30 days.
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification within 120 days.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Program (CPI) within 180 days.
- Complete RN Competency Day annually by the transcript due date.
- Complete 4 Stroke CEU hours annually by the transcript due date.
Responsibilities
- Independently perform systematic and continuous assessments of assigned patients’ and families’ physical, emotional, clinical, and psychosocial needs in conjunction with the medical plan of care.
- Plan and implement appropriate interventions.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and adjust the plan in a timely manner to provide safe and effective care.
