The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Plastics/Eyes Operating Room circulates and coordinates the surgical team in all aspects of operating room activities, providing optimum perioperative nursing care. The RN may be asked to scrub as needed and functions as the patient’s advocate. The role is based in a state-of-the-art Jacksonville hospital with 34 operating rooms, including an IMRI OR suite and a dedicated endovascular OR suite, using modern equipment and advanced technologies. The RN is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care. Working within the Mayo Nursing Care Model and the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, the RN plans, implements, evaluates, and communicates all phases of care for assigned patients. The RN supports professional nursing practice across settings and the continuum of care, provides leadership through precepting and other leadership roles and quality improvement efforts, and delegates care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and available resources. The RN may also participate in committees or projects. Applicants without operating room experience may consider Mayo Clinic in Florida’s Periop 101 program. An upcoming cohort is planned for early/mid 2027. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship; successful sponsorship requires state licensure and VisaScreen or equivalent certification. Qualified applicants must live within a reasonable driving distance to campus to meet the 45-minute on-call requirement.
