About The Position

CoreCivic is seeking Registered Nurses who are committed to providing high-quality care in an institutional setting. The successful candidate must perform the role’s functions at a pace and level consistent with its job performance requirements. The position involves providing nursing care to inmates and residents, responding to illnesses and injuries, and supporting and supervising other healthcare staff.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited college, university, or nursing program with a degree or diploma in nursing.
• Possess current nursing licensure in the state of employment.
• Hold a valid driver's license.
• Be at least 20 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• One year of professional nursing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply appropriate nursing skills to the treatment and care of inmates and residents.
• Attend sick call with the physician, prepare a list of inmates and residents to be examined, and prepare the examining room and equipment.
• Examine and assess new inmates and residents with illnesses or injuries, as well as those who become ill or injured.
• Refer inmates and residents to the emergency room or other appropriate healthcare facilities when their condition requires it.
• Perform emergency procedures as needed and notify the Licensed Independent Provider to obtain treatment orders.
• Guide, supervise, and monitor nursing care provided by licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
