This is a part-time Registered Nurse position at Lawrenceville Correctional Center, offering a flexible staffing arrangement for nurses seeking additional hours, with a maximum average of 29 hours per week. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care within adult correctional institutions using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Services include 24-hour nursing care, telemedicine, chronic care clinics, sick call screenings/triage, medication administration, patient education, and basic life support/emergency care. Responsibilities also include documenting patient information accurately, maintaining confidentiality, and collaborating with other departments. Registered Nurses are expected to delegate tasks, work assigned hours, days, and locations, and provide coverage as needed to meet institutional demands. The position emphasizes evidence-based nursing care and continued competence through education and certification, with a focus on correctional nursing. Additional duties or location assignments may be necessary to meet the clinical and administrative needs of the Department. This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 – April 30, and the wage employment period resets annually on May 1. This wage position offers no state benefits.
