About The Position

The Forensic Registered Nurse provides comprehensive care to sexual assault victims, conducts forensic exams and provides expert testimony when required for legal purposes.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Skills (BLS) from American Heart Association
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) + 2 years of nurse practice
  • Must have completed Adult Didactic portion of certification.
  • Valid nursing license issued from Texas State Board of Nursing or compact state
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing standards and practices in accordance with nursing scope and standards of practice (ANA, 2010)
  • Adheres to forensic practices as guided by the International Association of Forensic Nurses
  • Special interest in scientific and technical activities for understanding and responding to nursing problems and concepts
  • Excellent communicator, skilled in written and verbal communications
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to problem solve and exercise independent judgement

Nice To Haves

  • Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner’s Certificate preferred

Responsibilities
