About The Position

We are seeking a PreOp/PACU Registered Nurse who will be responsible for the perioperative needs of individual patients including, but not limited to adult, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients. They will provide competent and skilled nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures. The staff nurse will utilize the nursing process for patient care in all surgical specialties supported by The Black Canyon Surgical Center.

Requirements

Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required within 6 months
Demonstrates ability to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day
Demonstrates ability to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis
Demonstrates ability to push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis
One year of acute care experience is required
Job Knowledge: Encompass a wide range of nursing, psycho-social and medical information which includes nursing process, communication and problem solving, assessment and prioritizing skills.

Responsibilities

Uses acceptable standards of practice based on nursing process care to provide the individual/family/group with identified perioperative needs.
Coordinates care of the individual/family/group based on AORN Standards of Care.
Is accountable for ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to nursing within the scope of practice.
During PreOp and PACU phase, coordinates care of patient, assembles necessary equipment, delegates activities to other team members, implements the nursing process and care, serves as a patient advocate, assures a safe environment for the patient, completes documentation accurately.
Occupational Exposure: Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards.
