The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating patient functional status. This position is ECB status – requires a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department; limited benefit offerings. The Registered Nurse will utilize the nursing process to care for patients. Assesses, organizes, and completes patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural and psychosocial factors. Documents steps of the nursing process. Utilizes proper medical terminology. Addresses problems and progress toward goals. Facilitates patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources, suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors. Collaborates with other disciplines as appropriate. Supports unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities as evidenced by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports. This position requires independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only. The role coordinates activities of others (does not supervise) and leads others in the same work performed (does not supervise). Has input on performance evaluations but does not prepare or give them. Works directly with patients and/or customers, internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction, external customers via telephone or face to face interaction, other healthcare professionals and staff, and frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
