About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides clinical direction for all aspects of patient care in an acute inpatient setting, fostering patient- and family-centered care. The role demonstrates clinical competency through evidence-based practice and research across the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes. The nurse consults with clinical advisors and peers as appropriate, follows organizational compliance policies and procedures, understands regulatory requirements, and provides care within the scope of the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act. The nurse assesses patients, identifies nursing priorities, develops and updates individualized plans of care with patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary team members, and coordinates discharge planning and continuity of care. The nurse provides and delegates care appropriately, monitors quality and patient safety, evaluates outcomes, documents care, communicates changes, and participates in performance improvement. The role also includes patient and family education, professional accountability, maintaining licensure and competency, and serving as a patient advocate and care coordinator. The acute inpatient setting may require significant shift, weekend, holiday, and on-call work.
