About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Infusion Center. This is a PRN, day shift position in Charlottesville, VA, Monday to Friday, with no nights or weekends. This role would involve 1 to 3 eight-to-nine-hour shifts per week as needed. The operating hours are Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM, with some variation for business needs. The Sentara Martha Jefferson Infusion Center offers a pleasant, professional atmosphere where patients can receive intravenous infusions and therapeutic injections. Our oncology-certified nurses are trained to administer chemotherapy, biological therapies, or supportive blood transfusions for cancer, as well as various infusions for non-cancer patients. OCN certified nurses are present in both the Infusion Center and Medical Oncology clinic. This role will focus on Chemotherapy, and Chem Certification would be preferred. The Infusion Center has 25 chairs, serves 14,000 provider visits per year, and 17,000 infusion visits per year (both oncology and non-oncology).

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing required
  • Registered Nurse Licensure
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • 2 years of acute nursing preferred
  • Oncology Nursing experience preferred
  • Cancer experience Preferred
  • Infusion experience preferred
  • Chemo certification preferred

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN Preferred
  • ONC certified RN preferred
  • Chemotherapy and Chem Certification would be preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Utilize the standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) to encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
  • Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
