About The Position

Logan Health is looking for an empathetic PRN Registered Nurse to join our Hematology/Oncology team in Kalispell, MT! In this important position, you will act as a Clinical Care Coordinator for our outpatient Hematology/Oncology Clinic patients. This role involves serving as the main point of contact for patient needs, providing education on chemotherapy and other treatments, coordinating infusion scheduling, offering symptom support, and conducting in-person visits for education and symptom management. The nurse will also help coordinate care for patients needing services in other areas.

Requirements

  • Current Montana RN License or a multi-state compact license with authorization to practice nursing within the state of Montana; required.
  • RQI Provider (BLS) within seven (7) days of hire/transfer or before independent patient care, whichever comes first, required.
  • Ability to act with integrity, kindness, and exhibit empathy.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN degree preferred.
  • Oncology related experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact for patient needs in the outpatient hematology oncology clinic
  • Provide education to new patients starting chemotherapy or other treatments
  • Coordinate infusion scheduling and treatment-related planning
  • Offer symptom support and field incoming calls to the symptom support clinic
  • Schedule and conduct in-person clinic patient visits for education and symptom management in collaboration with medical providers
  • Help coordinate care for patients needing services in other areas such as Ronan and Libby
  • Performs patient assessment.
  • Utilizes all available sources of information and incorporates the patient’s perception of illness.
  • Develops an individualized plan of care for each patient and updates the plan throughout the visit as appropriate.
  • Consistently identifies safety issues concerning the patient and staff during visit.
  • Independently reviews medication lists and provides ongoing medication or treatment education at the directive of physician or advanced practice provider.
  • Coordinates with healthcare team to provide continuity of care.
  • Participates in the development and delivery of education and competency validation of clinical staff.
  • Utilizes department Standard of Care and individualizes care provided on an on-going basis per department standards.
  • Administers medications per provider order.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to professionalism while undertaking and completing all department competencies.
  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.
