About The Position

Alliance Spine & Pain is seeking a Registered Nurse to join their JCAHO-certified ambulatory surgery center team. This role offers a blend of work and personal life with no weekends, no overnights, and no on-call duties. The position requires availability on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Lawrenceville, and Fridays in Johns Creek, with occasional Mondays in either location. The nurse will be responsible for pre-operative assessments and education, assisting with IV starts and medications, circulating during procedures, assisting the physician, preparing the operating room, and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) duties including patient observation, assessment, and discharge education. The role also involves general duties such as ensuring patient safety, maintaining confidentiality, regulatory compliance, pre-operative and post-operative phone calls, and electronic medical record documentation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program.
  • Current GA nursing license.
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification.
  • Other required training.
  • Knowledge of equipment, instrumentation and supplies required to perform specific responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-operative assessments and patient education.
  • Assist with IV starts during pre-operative prep of patient.
  • Administer medications per Physician’s orders.
  • Assist with medication counts and accurate documentation of narcotic log.
  • Circulate and assist Physician and surgical tech during procedures.
  • Prepare the operating room.
  • Restock medications and supplies.
  • Perform time out prior to beginning the procedure.
  • Communicate with Physicians and care team to ensure safe and accurate patient information is relayed.
  • Document operative note and times.
  • Coordinate with scheduling staff to schedule patient’s follow up visit.
  • Observe and assess patient while recovering from moderate sedation.
  • Report any necessary assessment outliers to Physician.
  • Provide patient’s discharge education, prescriptions and return appointment information.
  • Ensure patient meets discharge criteria per Aldrete score.
  • Document assessment data in the medical record.
  • Ensure safety of patients during procedure visit.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient, center and physician related information per HIPAA guidelines.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance is upheld by completing necessary daily documentation.
  • Provide pre-operative phone calls to ensure education and pre-procedure instructions are received.
  • Assist team with next day post-operative phone calls.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by charge nurse, administrator or providers.
  • Document and maintain appropriate workflow in patient’s electronic medical record.
