About The Position

Insight Juvenile Assessment & Crisis Center at Methodist Home for Children (MHC) is seeking a Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team. This position works approximately 10 hours per week with a flexible schedule. The RN will ensure the health and well-being of youth admitted to the Assessment Center, providing medical consultation and support to program staff. MHC provides safe, stable homes for children and helps youth facing significant challenges receive the support, assessment, and guidance they need.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and at least one (1) year of nursing experience; OR Associate Degree in Nursing and at least two (2) years of nursing experience.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain approval under MHC's insurance requirements.
  • Negative pre-employment drug screen.
  • Successful completion of post-employment physical and TB test.
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift, and perform daily operational tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with youth, families, colleagues, and community partners.
  • Ability to work in environments where exposure to infectious diseases may occur.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct physical assessments for youth within 24 hours of admission.
  • Provide medical consultation and guidance to Assessment Center staff.
  • Respond to youth medical needs, including sick calls, routine assessments, and triage of injuries and illnesses.
  • Oversee medication administration practices and record-keeping protocols.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to review and improve healthcare procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Assessment Center and community healthcare providers.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director.
