About The Position

The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating patient functional status. This role involves utilizing the nursing process to care for patients, assessing and organizing patient care with consideration for age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. The nurse will document the nursing process, use proper medical terminology, and address problems and progress toward goals. A key aspect is facilitating patient discharge through timely referrals and patient education, collaborating with other disciplines, and supporting unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities.

Requirements

  • Has completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing, and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom.
  • Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
  • Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years of Surgery Admit & Discharge or Critical Care related experience is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of OPAD or critical care related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process to care for patients.
  • Assesses, organizes, and completes patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural and psychosocial factors.

  • Utilizes proper medical terminology.
  • Addresses problems and progress toward goals.
  • Facilitates patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources, suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines as appropriate.
  • Supports unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities as evidenced by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports.
