About The Position

UC Health is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for the flex shift to support the Neuroscience ICU at UC Medical Center. UCMC is a preferred Neuroscience institution and a Level 4 Epilepsy Center, offering a teaching environment and serving as the region's first comprehensive stroke center.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Associate’s Degree, the minimum required
  • 1 year of ICU or Co-op experience required.
  • Current OH RN License
  • Current BLS/ACLS/PALS

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises, and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with the other healthcare team members and patient/family within the time-frame indicated by the unit's standards of practice.
  • Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care, and demonstrates the ability to establish priorities of care based on the patient's assessment and needs.
  • Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs, or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit.
  • The nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including evaluation of treatment and in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.
  • Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal and professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.
