About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Endoscopy unit at Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center demonstrates knowledge of the conditions/diagnoses, procedures, and equipment encountered in the Endoscopy unit, including Gastroenterology and Pulmonary. This role requires exhibiting knowledge of and consistently maintaining SGNA standards of practice. The nurse assesses patient reactions and understanding of procedures/instructions, actively including the patient and family members in teaching. They must demonstrate flexibility and responsibility in meeting the staffing needs of the unit and clinically practice consistently and effectively with the goal of improving patient satisfaction. The department operates Monday – Friday from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with an on-call team available for emergencies when the department is closed. Requirements

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the conditions/diagnoses, procedures and equipment encountered in the Endoscopy unit including Gastroenterology, and Pulmonary.
  • Exhibits knowledge of and consistently maintains SGNA standards of practice.
  • Assesses patient reactions and understanding of procedure/instructions- actively including the patient and family members in teaching.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and responsibility in meeting staffing needs of the unit.
  • Clinically practices consistently and effectively with the goal of improving patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate, complete health care records and reports.
  • Administers medications to patients and monitors them for side effects and reactions.
  • Prescribes assistive medical devices and related treatments.
  • Monitors, reports, and records symptoms or changes in patient conditions.
  • Assesses, implements, plans, or evaluates patient nursing care plans by working with healthcare team members.
  • Records patient vital signs and medical information.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
