About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiovascular Observation Unit (CVOU) plays a crucial role in providing direct patient care within Baptist Health's invasive cardiac services. This unit is part of a comprehensive system that includes the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, and Cardiovascular Observation Unit, offering advanced treatments and research in areas such as cardiac catheterizations, angioplasty, electrophysiology studies, pacemaker/defibrillator implants, and more. The CVOU also serves as the preoperative and postoperative area for these services. The RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, developing care plans, providing direct care, managing patient care delivery, demonstrating leadership, supporting quality care, and fostering positive customer relations within a healing environment. Operating Room Nurses, a related function, provide care before, during, and after surgery, utilizing critical thinking and the nursing process. The role requires the ability to supervise and delegate tasks to other healthcare professionals and students.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure and work permit in Kentucky.
  • Bachelor’s or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
  • Applicants with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
  • ACLS/PALS/NIHHS and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
  • ACLS certification required within 6 months for experienced nurses and 1 year for new graduates.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years of ICU, CCU, or cardiovascular nursing experience preferred.
