About The Position

The Registered Nurse supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants, responsible for the direct and indirect care of residents on an assigned unit. This role assists with the general management of the unit, responds to facility emergencies, complaints, and staffing issues. As the designated RN Supervisor, the individual assumes responsibility for the management of the facility in the absence of the Director of Nursing or Nursing Care Coordinator.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  • A minimum of two (2) year previous health or nursing experience.
  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Must have ability to work accurately with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and concise records and reports.
  • Prior to hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted.
  • Current Licensure in the State of WI as a Registered Nurse.
  • CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Carries out administrative and patient care duties as directed.
  • Abides by department policies and procedures and interprets them to personnel, patients, medical staff and public.
  • Gives and receives reports.
  • Assists supervisor with instruction and supervision of other nursing personnel, including LPN’s and Certified Nursing Assistants.
  • Assesses patients’ needs, condition and care, and assists supervisor in developing nursing care plan for individual patients, including rehabilitative and restorative activities, and instruction in self-help.
  • Admits and orients new patients and relatives.
  • Checks identification.
  • Checks physicians’ orders, transfer and admission information.
  • Reviews patients’ medical and social history.
  • Requisitions and arranges for diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered by patients’ physicians.
  • Orders prescribed medications, requisitions supplies and equipment.
  • Periodically reviews and updates patient care plans with supervisor or Clinical Reimbursement Specialist.
  • Documents all assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes per facility policy.
  • Provides professional nursing service for patients, following established policies and procedures.
  • Assists Nursing Supervisor and Nurse Care Coordinator in management of the unit and supervision of personnel.
  • Performs charting duties.
  • Maintains narcotic records.
  • Completes required unit charting.
  • Discharges or transfers patients.
  • Participates in in-service education programs.
  • Takes and records vital signs as required.
  • Checks and gives medications, gives treatments, and performs other professional services as ordered or required.
  • Gives emergency treatment when required, and notifies physician of emergency and takes and carries out physician’s orders.
  • Assesses and notifies physician of changes in patients condition, and unusual or abnormal observations.
