About The Position

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Medical/Telemetry unit. This is a full-time position requiring work every weekend on day shifts. The role involves managing a diverse adult patient population with complex medical conditions in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They must also adhere to standards of professional performance such as ethics, communication, collaboration, and evidence-based practice. The position requires clinical knowledge and skills specific to acute care and adherence to specialty requirements. The primary duties include assessing/admitting patients, rounding checks, administering medications, communicating with family members, and overseeing overall patient care. The unit emphasizes strong interdisciplinary collaboration, professional autonomy, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • RN Diploma, ADN, BSN or MSN degree.
  • RN License valid to work in the State of Virginia.
  • BLS and NIHSS within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation.
  • Adhering to standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
  • Meeting and maintaining any requirements defined by specific specialty.
  • Assessing/admitting patients.
  • Performing rounding checks.
  • Giving medications.
  • Talking with family members.
  • Being responsible for the overall care of your patients.
