CommonSpirit Health•Silverdale, WA

About The Position

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is hiring a Registered Nurse for a newly formed Medical Surgical Unit at St. Michael Medical Center. This 24/7 Short Stay unit has 18 private Med-Tele rooms and serves patients who need ongoing diagnostic testing or observation before discharge or admission. Stays are typically less than 24–48 hours, and nurses coordinate care amid fast-paced patient turnover while promptly building rapport and involving patients in their care. The patient population includes people experiencing chest pain, stroke, congestive heart failure exacerbation, uncontrolled hypertension, dehydration, and post-procedural recovery following cardiac catheterization or short-stay surgery. The Registered Nurse provides compassionate, high-quality, holistic, professional care that is patient- and family-centered, safe, respectful, and cost-efficient. The role requires strong assessment and critical-thinking skills, a patient-first mindset, urgency, and dedication to excellence in a fast-paced environment. The nurse follows hospital and department policies, safety and regulatory standards; administers and documents medications as ordered; assesses patients’ physical, psychosocial, cultural, behavioral/emotional, developmental, and spiritual needs; gathers relevant care data; plans and implements interventions; evaluates outcomes; and prepares patients for discharge while helping coordinate post-discharge needs. The nurse also uses available communication tools effectively and demonstrates knowledge and skills appropriate to the populations served.
