About The Position

Northwestern Medical Center (NMC) is recruiting for an Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse (RN). This is a full-time position requiring 72 hours bi-weekly, with typical hours from 7a to 3:30p and every other weekend. The RN will plan and implement nursing care for patients in the Emergency Department, performing direct patient care for all age groups under various circumstances.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Vermont.
• At least one year of clinical experience preferred.
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required or obtained within 6 months if a new graduate.

Nice To Haves

• PALS, TNCC, ENPC, and CEN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements nursing care for patients in the Emergency Department according to established policies and procedures.
• Performs direct patient care for patients of all age groups and under a wide variety of circumstances.
• Incorporates appropriate assessment and intervention skills in all interactions and delivery of nursing care, including safety & protection, assessment, intervention skills, evaluation, and equipment use and management.
• Communicates with patients, team members, and management in an accurate and timely manner.
• Applies critical thinking skills and utilizes best practices and current research.
• Organizes and manages workload, prioritizing and customizing patient plans of care.
• Develops and maintains human care relationships, adapting care management for diverse populations and environments.
• Advocates for the needs of patients and/or families.
• Provides care in an ethical and legal manner.
• Collaborates with all members of the multidisciplinary care team.
• Manages self and resources effectively, acknowledging and adhering to limits of experience and capability.
• Identifies learning needs and seeks resources.
• Utilizes equipment and supplies appropriately.
• Maintains a clean and orderly environment of care.
• Applies leadership skills, including appropriate utilization of scope of practice, professional interaction, conflict management, delegation, and coordination of care.
• Incorporates teaching in the delivery of care with a focus on health promotion.
• Applies knowledge integration skills for the patient population served within the unit, providing age-specific care.
• Demonstrates unit-specific skills requisite for the unit/patient population served.
