Requirements

Graduate of a recognized College or School of Nursing.
Current certification or eligibility for Certification of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Minimum of 3-5 years of acute post-operative surgical nursing care experience.
Demonstrated consistency in approachability, clinical excellence, patience, respectful interactions and diplomacy.
Highly developed critical thinking and reasoning skills for problem-solving and managing emergency situations.
Ability to effectively prioritize patient and family needs in conjunction with the interprofessional care team.
Professional communication skills both oral and written.
Commitment to life-long learning and evidence of on-going professional development.
Satisfactory attendance and performance.

Nice To Haves

Preferably hold a Baccalaureate degree.
POAC experience is preferred.
Competence with Epic and computer documentation is an asset.

Responsibilities

Provide pre-operative assessment and care to patients.
Manage patient and family needs in conjunction with the interprofessional care team.
Handle emergency situations.
Engage in life-long learning and ongoing professional development.
