Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients under 21, including triage, assessment, intervention, and evaluation
  • Collaborate closely with pediatric emergency physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Respond to high-acuity and time-sensitive conditions, utilizing advanced clinical judgment and rapid decision-making
  • Provide family-centered care, engaging and educating caregivers during stressful and often emotional situations
  • Administer medications, initiate protocols, and support procedures with a strong emphasis on safety and pediatric-specific best practices
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and clinical excellence, leveraging UVA Health’s academic environment
