Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
- 1 year of relevant experience.
- Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients under 21, including triage, assessment, intervention, and evaluation
- Collaborate closely with pediatric emergency physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams
- Respond to high-acuity and time-sensitive conditions, utilizing advanced clinical judgment and rapid decision-making
- Provide family-centered care, engaging and educating caregivers during stressful and often emotional situations
- Administer medications, initiate protocols, and support procedures with a strong emphasis on safety and pediatric-specific best practices
- Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and clinical excellence, leveraging UVA Health’s academic environment
